Hello my fellow fantasy lovers, today we are diving into Amber V. Nicole’s “The Book of Azrael”.

The Book Of Azrael is a captivating journey that begins in the deserts of Eoria with Dianna’s sacrifice to save her dying sister. Little did she expect that her plea would be answered by a monster far worse than any nightmare, setting the stage for an epic tale of adventure, intrigue, self reflection and complex relationships.

From the very first chapter, I knew this would be a five star read and Amber V. Nicole would become an auto buy author for me! I was immediately drawn into Dianna’s world. At a thousand years old, she defies the age norms we often encounter in fantasy novels, adding a unique twist to her character. Her desperation to save her sister leaves her chained to Kaden having to do his bidding, even if it means securing an ancient relic from the very creatures that hunt her. This initial premise sets the tone for a story filled with moral ambiguity and tough choices.

One of the aspects that I loved was the morally grey nature of Diana’s main character. Dianna’s complex, feisty personality and her willingness to work with monsters make her a compelling and relatable protagonist. It’s refreshing to see a character who is unapologetically not good or evil but somewhere in between, navigating a world that isn’t always black and white.

The book’s structure, featuring multiple points of view, enriches the narrative by providing insights into each character’s motivations and thought processes. This allowed me to have a deeper connection with the characters and a better understanding of their actions and choices. It’s a storytelling choice that adds layers to the plot and enhances the overall reading experience.

Amber V. Nicole’s world-building is another highlight of the book. The story takes us across multiple worlds, introducing us to an abundance of creatures, gods, and mythical beings. From familiar monsters to unique creations, the universe of “The Book of Azrael” is expansive and diverse, keeping the reader engaged and eager to explore more while not overwhelming you.

Now, let’s talk about the romance. The slow-burn relationship between Dianna and other characters is both deliciously torturous and a delight. The tension builds steadily throughout the book, making every interaction between them charged with anticipation. While it might be a test of patience for some, I found it to be a captivating aspect of the story that adds depth to the characters’ relationships.

To sum up this amazing read, “The Book of Azrael” is a gem of a book that offers a fresh and engaging take on fantasy tropes. With its morally complex characters, intricate world-building, and delicious slow-burn romance, it’s a must-read for fantasy and romance lovers alike. Amber V. Nicole has crafted a compelling story that stays with you, leaving you eagerly awaiting the next book, The Throne of Broken Gods (“Dawn of the Cursed Queen, book 3 in the Gods & Monsters series coming end of May 2024) in this promising series. Trust me, you’ll want to dive into this multiverse of intrigue as soon as possible!
