12 Pregnancy Must-Haves

Finding out that you’re pregnant is a very overwhelming experience. Your hormones are going crazy and your mind is running a mile a minute. Well, let me help with all the craziness and tell you the pregnancy must-haves you’ll need.

1. Water Bottle

When you’re pregnant you’ll become very thirsty! Like all the time! I carried a water bottle with me everywhere! I became obsessed with it . I also could only drink ice cold water so I ended up getting a Bubba to keep it cold.

2. Tea

Now, there are a lot of studies out there talking about having caffeine while pregnant. I decided to play it safe and stop drinking coffee or caffeinated tea; however, I still needed that warm cup of “something” in the morning so I decided to drink decaffeinated tea. Peppermint and ginger tea are supposed to help with offsetting nausea, but, I was weird and couldn’t drink, use, or smell anything peppermint because it made the nausea worse for me, so I drank Twinings Chamomile Apple Spice Tea.

3. Essential Oil Headache Blend

While I was in my first trimester of pregnancy, I had a lot of headaches, almost constantly. Apparently, it’s super normal; however, very annoying. I chose to use the Aromatherapy Gift Set and blend the peppermint* and lavender. *until this smell left me nauseated, then I just used lavender.

Essential oils are also great for round ligament pain or lower back pain.
we continued to use essential oils even after the pregnancy because of how well they worked. I much prefer to use essential oils for pain rather than pain killers.
Essential oils have also been great for after the baby was born. We diffuse some lavender oil in the evening to help calm everyone down and start relaxing for bed.

4. Snoogle

The Snoogle honestly saved me while pregnant! This is probably one of the most ESSENTIAL pregnancy must-haves and one you’ve probably heard of. My husband hated it, but hey it helped me sleep!

It takes the pressure off your hips and supports your ever growing belly… it’s absolutely amazing! I wanted to keep using it after the baby was born. The great thing about the snoogle is you can manoeuvre it to help feed the baby however that might be… breast or bottle.

5. Bio Oil

Bio oil, or some sort of pregnancy cream, is very important if you want to fight off stretch marks. I know there is no “proven” methods to combating stretch marks but I believe that the bio-oil helped me. It helps keep your skin moisturized and soft while pregnant. Your belly can get super itchy due to the stretching skin so this is, for sure, a pregnancy must-have. You can keep using it after pregnancy as well to help with any stretch marks you did get.

6. Prenatal Vitamins

Prenatal vitamins are THE MOST important pregnancy must-have because they help with the development of your growing baby. Taking your prenatal vitamins religiously is the first thing you will ever do to help that little human growing inside of you. I used Materna Prenatal Vitamins – they have Iron and DHA which are both super important while pregnant.

7. Pregnancy Leggings

So I lived in these while pregnant. If I wasn’t at work or forced to dress up… I was in my pregnancy leggings. They were so extremely comfortable and didn’t cut anything off or make me feel fat. They were just the best! I highly recommend you get a pair or 7.

8. Pregnancy Tank Top

You need this to go with your leggings. If it’s winter (like it was for me) add a giant baggy sweater and your cup of tea and you might forget how uncomfortable you are. You can get both your tank top and leggings at old navy at a great price!

9. Ovia App

I probably had about 5 different pregnancy apps on my phone while pregnant, but I found this one was the best and most informative. Plus they also have an Ovia Parenting app and a conception app. There are weekly videos to let you know what’s going on with you and the baby, as well as forums and daily updates.

10. Bath Pillow

I recommend getting a nice bath pillow. When I got off work all I wanted to do was come home and soak in a nice warm tub. I didn’t have a bath pillow, but if I did, it would have been that much more relaxing! This would be on my pregnancy must-haves list for our second.

11. Book

What to Expect When You’re Expecting is a great book to have! Yes, there are apps but they’re not the same as curling up with a book. I would read mine while I relaxed in the bath after work. Each pregnancy is different and you might skip or miss something in the app. Plus the book is easier to quickly look something up.

12. Snacks

You need lots of snacks while pregnant. Go to Costco and buy a giant box of your favourite healthy snack and keep them in your purse. I would be out and about and get super hungry and have to go buy food. It’s easier to just reach into your purse and pull out a healthy snack to curb that hunger.
