Maybe you are looking for a new foundation and don’t know where to start? I am going to lay down the facts for you. I am going to show you the difference between cream, powder and liquid foundation! Okay… Let’s dive in!

SEINT Cream Makeup in Compact

Okay, so let’s get right into the different types of makeup and what they are used for!

So when choosing what type of foundation you want you need to ask yourself what type of look are you going for? Full Coverage? Light coverage? Glowy? Dewy? Matte? there are so many different looks to consider.

The next thing you need to figure out or decide is what type of skin do you have? Oily? Dry? Combination? This will have a huge factor in what type of foundation you choose and how it’ll look on your skin.

So let’s start with the most common. The most well-known. The one we have all tried !! LIQUID Foundation!

Liquid foundation is probably the most common… at least, since I’ve been wearing makeup. There is nothing wrong with the liquid foundation I mean, hey, I’ve been using it up until 6 months ago when I discovered SEINT. But more on that later.

Liquid foundation is what it’s called. A. Liquid. The problem with the Liquid Foundation is it needs to dry down. What I mean by this is all liquids need to dry down. So it’s going to go on as a liquid and dry on your face. This doesn’t sound bad until it starts to dry in fine lines and creases. This type of foundation is also going to be giving you one colour over your whole face resulting in a flat look. Between the creasing and the flat look, this is where the term “Cake Face” comes from. One of the other major things to think about when considering a Liquid Foundation is the consistency and coverage it will give. Not all liquid foundations give the same amount of coverage. Some, like Kat Von D will be FULL coverage while others like Cover Girl BB cream will be minimal coverage but they are both considered a liquid foundation.

Don’t get me wrong…I am not hating on liquid foundation. I have used liquid foundation for MANY years. I am just sharing my personal knowledge and experiences with makeup.

Powder. Let’s talk about Powder makeup.

When it comes to using powder to cover up blemishes or even out your skin tone there are a couple of things to consider. The main thing to consider is your skin type. If you have dry skin then I would not recommend using powder makeup.

Powder makeup can be very drying to the skin. If you have Oily skin then this isn’t a bad thing. The powder will help control the oil … at least for a little while.

When you think of powder makeup what do you think of? For myself, I automatically think of two things.

1. A cover girl compact that women would carry around with them in their purses and would use to touch up their faces in the bathroom. This was popular in the 50’s-early 2000s

2. My grandmother or any older lady born in the ’20s-’30s

Again there is nothing wrong with powder makeup… it’s still very popular today. Most women use powder makeup to set their face. This stops their makeup from moving and locks it in. But when thinking about what you are going to use as your MAIN foundation. The makeup that is going to cover up blemishes and even out your skin tone .. powder just isn’t my first go-to.

Here is my problem with powder foundation.

I Find that…

1. It doesn’t go on evenly

2. It will take away all the life from your face. Dull your glow. Matte your face.

3. Ages yous ( like I said powder is an older makeup practice )

4. It will enhance all the texture on your face ( like peach fuzz )

Okay… now let’s talk about the CREAM foundation.

This is what will change your makeup game. I am shocked that more people don’t know about cream makeup… or maybe there I just a lot of misinformation out there?

Cream makeup is for everyone… OF ALL ages… OF ALL skin types. So let me get right into the facts and what makes it great! The five things to know about cream makeup!

  1. It works with all skin types. YES even oily skin. I know that people with oily skin might be a bit more intimidated by the cream worried that it might make their oily skin worse. The answer to that is no. The cream will actually help manage the oil in your skin and help lock it in.
  2. Cream Foundation is amazing for mature skin. Because cream makeup doesnt dry down it wont settle in fine line and wrinkles. Cream Foundation will give you that beautiful glow from within and leave you feeling like you arent even wearing makeup.
  3. Cream Foundation has buildable coverage.. a little goes a long way. Start small and build your foundation up as you need to.
  4. Cream Foundation wont break in a glass bottle or need to be squeezed our scraped out of the bottle. It wont break when dropped and make a mess of your makeup bag. You simply place you little tin in your magnetic pallet and away you go. Simple. Easy and fast.
  5. Cream Foundation needs to be set. Becuase it is a cream the makeup will move and blen like a dream! This is amazing, however you need to set the makeup to lock it in place. A Setting spray will do the trick for this.
